Hôtel Reisen located on Skeppsbrokajen in the Old Town dates all the way back to 17th-century Stockholm. Cultural life and its historic connection to its location are anchored in its new guise. Together with international elements, the new hotel has been created with a cosmopolitan feel where you can easily spend 24 hours without batting an eye. The light and the character of the building in the front-facing public areas are emphasized in a new open-plan lobby and bar lounge where the material palette is crisp and lively – like an afternoon on the rocks of Stockholm’s archipelago. The innermost interiors are darker and decadent and is accompanied by the ship Per Brahe’s original interior. Downstairs lies Tjärn, the hotel’s relax area, which with a widened range offers a comprehensive experience under the brick arches of the old city wall. With public spaces that all have their own character, Reisen’s rich history is reflected while at the same time moving the hotel from past to future. Photo: Anthony Parkinson
